This is the sister run to the Beach to Chowder that happens earlier this summer. This 1/2 marathon is one of a kind, it takes the contestants through the wilderness. The run takes place on the scenic Discovery Trail through the ocean dunes. There are eight age divisions and a awards ceremony to follow. September 15th.

This annual car show features thousands of automobiles from Model As to the muscle cars of the 60s and 70s. The main events are held at Wilson Field in Ocean Park, where there are vendors and competitions held. Throughout the weekend the cars will drive through town and show off their uniqueness. September 8-9th
7th annual Chinook Art Festival September 1-3rd. This festival includes blown glass, photography, jewelry, oil & watercolors, pottery & more! We have some talented local artists come see what they can do!

Local celebrity, half-man-half-gator, Jake the Alligator Man invites you to his 6th Annual 75th Birthday Bash and Bachelor Party! Family fun featuring games, cake & party hats & children’s entertainment, along with a Rat Rod car show during the day. Grown-up entertainment with sideshow performers, burlesque dancers & live music in the evening. August 3-4.

There is a big event kicking up dust this weekend: The Long Beach Rodeo! This NPRA sanctioned rodeo starts with a parade through town Friday evening and continues through the weekend with Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Barrel Racing, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping and a Stick Horse Race. Also enjoy the Drill team, Cowboy Breakfast, Pit BBQ, vendors and concessions.Yee-haw! July 27-29.

Sandsations sandcastle contest is a family-focused week of salty adventure. The week begins with professional sand sculptors creating and teaching in downtown Long Beach and culminates with an all ages, all abilities contest on Saturday. Free lessons on the beach for the kids Friday. Free hot dogs Saturday, along with the all-are-welcome-free-to-enter Sand Flea Pet Parade. July 25-29.

Rich with history, the Clamshell Railroad served the Long Beach Peninsula from 1889-1930. Bus tours, presentations and layouts galore are featured at this annual celebration of the rail. Kids will have plenty to see and do with an expanded Lego Train and the G-scale Thomas and Percy train. The Kids Craft Corner returns with box cars, coloring pages and more. It’s all at Clamshell Railroad Days, July 14-15.
